Women are important part of nation-building – Tinubu

President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President-elect, yesterday, assured of women’s full participation in government under his administration.Information Guide Nigeria

He said this in Abuja, during a book launch, titled: “101 Women of Impact”, which showcases the inspiring stories of women who have excelled in their fields, authored by Barrister Zainab Marwa.

Tinubu, who was represented by the All Progressives Congress (APC), National Women Leader, Dr. Betta Edu, said: “Women are a core part of nation building. They have paid the ultimate price in Nigeria for the development, peace and unity of this country.

“However, we remain the unsung heroes in Nigeria and I think this an opportunity for a woman to really bring to the front burner the great work other women have done within the last seven years.

“It’s been high impacts from women. And we are using this as a stepping stone to say more women should be brought into governance, leadership, and politics in Nigeria and of course beyond governance. Leadership and politics in every single sector. Women have been outstanding and more women need to be encouraged and inspired to come forward.”JAMB Portal

In her remarks, Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, called on governors to engage more women in governance in order to achieve meaningful development in their states.

She said: “We pray that the incoming administration will engage more women, not just at the national level, but right at the state and local government level for us to achieve better results and make this country move forward, leadership at the National Assembly, Nigerian woman are saying that we need at least a deputy speaker in the House of Representatives.”NYSC Portal
