UN Women – In July 2010, the United nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:
1.) Monitoring and Reporting Analyst, Women, Peace and Security
Location: Borno
Required Skills and Experience
Education and Certification:
- Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Political or Social Science, Economics, International Development Studies, or Gender / Women’s Studies is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) would be an added advantage.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience at the national or international level in monitoring and reporting of development projects/ programmes;
- Experience in the United Nations systems in an asset;
- Field experience is an asset.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required;
- Knowledge of the other UN official working language is an asset;
- Knowledge of Hausa is an asset.

- Master’s Degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Human Rights, Gender / Women’s Studies, International Development, or a related field is required
- A first-level University Degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A project/programme management certification would be an added advantage
Experience:
- At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development; programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building;
- Experience in Women, Peace and Security is an asset;
- Experience coordinating and liaising with government agencies and/or donors is an asset.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of the other UN official working language is an asset;
- Knowledge of Hausa is an asset.

3.) Driver / Field Office Clerk
Location: Borno
Required Skills and Experience
Education and Certification:
- Secondary Education;
- Valid driver’s license.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record.

Experience:
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience at the national or international level in design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development projects;
- Technical experience in advancing gender responsiveness in the security sector institutions and the Women, Peace and Security agenda;
- Experience coordinating and liaising with government agencies and/or donors is an asset;
- Experience working in the UN System is an asset;
- Experience in leading/managing a team is an asset.

5.) Programme / Finance Associate
Location: Abuja
Required Skills and Experience
Education and Certification:
- Completion of Secondary Education is required.
- Specialized national or international certification in accounting and finance is an asset
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting is an asset.
- Successful completion of UN Women Accounting and Finance Test is required.
Experience:
- At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in finance;
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems.
- Experience in the use of Quantum is an asset.
