Miva Open University is an education company building a new kind of university targeted at the African region. Miva is a Pan- African Distance e-Learning University that is built on a couple of beliefs: Firstly, we believe that the traditional brick and mortar approach to tertiary education is no longer a viable option in serving learners on the African continent. This approach will not provide the capacity and efficacy for the people of the region.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:
1.) Head of Department – Nursing
Location: Abuja
Qualifications
- A Ph.D in Nursing or a related field.
- University teaching experience, with a minimum rank of Senior Lecturer.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within an academic institution, preferably in an online distance learning environment.
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in Nursing principles, practices, and theories.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional methodologies in Nursing education.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and mentor faculty members, promoting excellence in teaching and research.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms, instructional technologies, and learning management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- A passion for online education and a commitment to providing high-quality learning experiences for students.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

3.) Senior Fullstack Engineer
Location: Abuja
Key Responsibilities
- Promote high standards to build well-tested and highly scalable systems.
- Collaborate with the product, design and backend teams to implement new features and build on existing ones.
- Build well-tested and highly scalable applications and microservices.
- Embrace and promote team best practices and ways of working.
- Always implement features with user experience and data tracking in mind.

- Work closely with Product, QA and DevOps teams to manage backlogs and hit ‘team defined’ deadlines.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve impediments and technical challenges, under the supervision of Principal Engineer and Technical Manager.
- Be vocal about ways to improve our own performance and processes.
- Design client-side (React/Next.js) and server-side (Nest.js, Node.js) architecture.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to develop responsive and user-friendly web applications using React/Next.js.
- Write effective APIs with high-quality, scalable and reusable code.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar.
- Minimum of 3 years experience as Senior Fullstack Engineer.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in node, typescript and React development.
- Good understanding and knowledge of Javascript frameworks such as React/Next.js.
- Solid understanding of Restful API design and implementation.
- Solid understanding of node microservices and close interaction with DevOps for its maintenance.
- Solid understanding of TDD or general testing principles.
- Capacity to work independently and asynchronously from the Product team without affecting delivery or quality of code.
- Ability for context switching.

4.) Graphic Designer
Location: Abuja
Qualification and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Multimedia, or a related field. A background in education or eLearning is a plus.
- Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Sketch, or similar tools.
- Strong creative and conceptual thinking, with the ability to translate complex ideas into simple, engaging visuals.
- Familiarity with design principles, typography, color theory, and layout design. Understanding of responsive web design principles is a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work within multidisciplinary teams and convey design concepts.

5.) Marketing Intern
Location: Abuja
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns across various channels, including social media, email, and website.
- Create engaging content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and WhatsApp communities.
- Monitor social media channels for trending topics and engagement opportunities.
- Support the Marketing team in organizing and promoting events or campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Community Manager to assist in community engagement initiatives.
- Help plan and coordinate marketing events, such as webinars, conferences, or product launches. This includes logistical support and promotional activities.
- Conduct market research and analyze marketing data to help identify trends and opportunities.
- Perform administrative tasks to support the Marketing department, such as data entry, filing, and organizing documents.
- Maintain marketing databases and compile reports on marketing activities and campaign results. This may involve using spreadsheet software like Google Sheets, PowerPoint, etc.
- Any special assignment or task assigned by the line manager.
- Provide general support to the Marketing team as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program, preferably in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

6.) Company Driver to the Vice-Chancellor
Location: Abuja
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport the Vice-Chancellor from specified locations in a timely manner.
- Safely transport the Vice-Chancellor to work and back, and to occasions in a timely manner.
- Safely drive the Vice-Chancellor relatives, visitors, business partners and associates to and from places authorized by the Vice-Chancellor
- Ensure that the car is clean at all times by washing both its interior and exterior parts.
- Carry out routine inspection on the car to ensure that it is always in good condition.
- Identify electrical and mechanical problems that may hinder smooth working of the car and carry out minor repairs and maintenance where necessary.
- Consider different routes, check climate and traffic reports to decide the best time to travel and the best route to take.
- Safely keep receipts for vehicle repairs and maintenance and other records and reports concerning the employer’s car(s).
- Maintain a travel log to record locations traveled to, travel time, and work hours
- Undertake additional and other ad-hoc tasks as may be required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must have at least a High School Degree – SSCE / OND / HND
- Must have at least two years of experience as a driver within a corporate organization.
- Must possess a valid Nigerian driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
- Working knowledge of the rules and regulations involved in the safe and efficient operation of automobiles.
- Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance procedures.
