Biography of Mi Abaga
Jude Abaga, known as Mr Incredible (MI) is a Nigerian hip hop recording artiste, a song writer, record producer and currently the CEO of a music label CHOCOLATE CITY.
He hails from Takum, Taraba state but was born and raised in Jos, northern Nigeria on the 4th of October 1981, he is the oldest child and has two brothers Jesse and Jason who are also actively involved in the entertainment industry; while Jesse known as Jesse Jagz is a prolific rapper, Jason is a writer and has written for Nigeria’s most famous television soap TINSEL.
He practically grew up in the church as his parents’ pastor Chris and Lydia Abaga are clergy.
Jude attended the Baptist High School in Jos after which he proceeded to Calvin College, Michigan, USA to study business and economics.
His romance with music started when his mother purchased basic musical notations for him. As a teenager, he loved to sample the work of Lauryn hill, DMX, Pablo Neruda, Bob Marley, Sarah Maclachlan and JayZ.
While in Calvin College, MI performed regularly at the schools major hip hop shows and concert, his excellent rap skills led him to finishing at the third position at the Calvin college’ HipHopera’ show which turned out to be the only hip hop show the college ever had.
Jude returned to Nigeria in 2003 to find a place in the Nigerian music and rap industry which was already dominated by industry giants like mode 9.
With the help of his friend Jeremiah Gyang who was then signed to chocolate city, he toured Lagos, Abuja and Enugu for shows.
He met Djinee in Enugu and teamed up with him to produce his mix tape that birthed a very popular and well acclaimed single titled ‘Safe’; A track that earned him several awards and recorded a massive airplay on African radio and music video stations.
MI founded loopy records back in jos with Jesse Jagz, ice prince, ruby, Lindsay, E Kelly and E bulk. When he met audu maikori, he was signed into chocolate city with members of Loopy music.
He became the CEO of CHOCOLATE CITY in 2015 after Audu Maikori resigned. A feat attributed to MI’s hard work and intelligence.
