Ijesa Society Educational Grant for Indigent Students 2024. The Ijesa Society is proud to announce the commencement of its Educational Grant for Indigent Students for the year 2024. This act is done to empower them to pursue their academic dreams without the burden of financial constraints. Details of the eligibility criteria, requirements and how to apply have been provided below.
The grant seeks to promote educational equity and create opportunities for talented individuals who might otherwise be hindered by their economic circumstances. By investing in the education of these students, the Ijesa Society hopes to contribute to the development of a more inclusive and prosperous society.
Eligibility Criteria
Interested applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must verify their Ijesa heritage, with parents being indigenes of Ijesa.
- Must really be in Financial Need: Demonstrating financial hardship is essential. Applicants are required to present evidence of their financial situation, supported by an attestation letter from the Chairman of their Local Government Area or the Oba of their town/village.
- Academic Grades: Applicants must be registered students at a Public University in Nigeria and not in their final year of study. A commendable academic record is crucial, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50/5.00, as certified by the institution’s authority.
- Documentation: A statement of result, signed by the registrar or an appropriate authority, is necessary to verify academic performance.
How to Apply
Interested applicants should follow the procedures given below to apply.
Application Letter: Submit a typed application letter of no more than 500 words to “The Chairman, Education Committee, THE IJESA SOCIETY, Lagos”. This letter should contain details of your background, academic journey, and why you think you deserve the grant.
The following documents should be submitted alongside the application letter. They are:

- Proof of Ijesa indigeneity or a certification letter from the candidate’s Oba.
- Photocopies of WAEC, NECO/SSCE results and JAMB admission letter.
- A photocopy of the candidate’s current University Identity Card.
- Certification from the institution’s Registrar/Dean of Student Affairs.
- A letter from the Head of Department detailing the candidate’s academic profile and GPA.
- A current passport photograph.
Submission: All applications, accompanied by the requisite documents, should be uploaded and sent via email to the Office of the Chairman, Education Committee, The Ijesa Society at sirgb2001@yahoo.com. The deadline for submission is set for eight weeks from the announcement date, marking a crucial timeline for applicants to adhere to.
