A 15-year-old Usongobong Paul, from Akwa-Ibom State, has emerged as the overall winner of the 2022 edition of the UBA Foundation’s annual National Essay Competition.InformationGuideNigeria
Usongobong Paul, a girl from the Federal Government Girls College Ikot- Obio Itong in Akwa-Ibom, defeated eleven other competitors to win the competition’s top prize.
According to a statement from the bank, the edition received nearly 5,000 submissions from students in Nigeria‘s Senior Secondary Schools.

At the big finale held on Monday at the Tony Elumelu Amphitheater, UBA House in Lagos, Nigeria, UBA announced that the scholarship was worth N5 million and included a brand-new, state-of-the-art laptop, among other prizes.
Usongobong stated that the experience had boosted her confidence while expressing her enthusiasm.
She added that “This scholarship will go a long way towards achieving my dream to become an ophthalmologist. The opportunity has changed my life and I appreciate UBA and the UBA Foundation.”
UBA also guaranteed her that the UBA Foundation will provide continual mentoring throughout her academic career and beyond.
Princess Sholabomi, a 15-year-old student at Value Spring College in Lagos, was given second place.
She received an N3 million educational grant and a brand-new laptop, while Sharon Nwajiaku, 15, of Ota Total Academy, Ogun State, earned the third prize of N2.5 million and a brand-new laptop.
Oliver Alawuba, UBA Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, gave the award and stated, “As a bank, we are interested in empowering our youth, and in order to do so, we must educate them and offer them enabling avenues.WAEC Result
