Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, has adjusted the team’s formation ahead of their first group game of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Equatorial Guinea. The changes have become necessary due to injuries sustained by some key players and the absence of Kelechi Iheanacho.informationguidenigeria
With injuries sidelining Sadiq Umar and Victor Boniface, and the late call-ups of Paul Onuachu and Terem Moffi unlikely to make it on time for the opening game, the Super Eagles will play with only one fit striker, Victor Osimhen.JAMB Portal
Iheanacho, who is recovering from an injury, is expected to arrive from the UK a day before the game, effectively ruling him out of the match.NYSC Portal

As a precautionary measure to ensure Osimhen’s fitness, he was kept away from physical contact during training and instructed to avoid aggressive tackles. Team Captain Ahmed Musa, initially set to play in his natural role as a winger, will serve as the backup striker in the absence of Moffi, Iheanacho, and Onuachu.
The Super Eagles will begin their AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, followed by matches against Ivory Coast on January 18 and Guinea-Bissau on January 22.
