An Abuja-based musician named Wilson Odin who goes by the stage name, Whill has been left devastated after losing his money to fraudsters. The 22-year-old artist took to his Instagram account to vent after discovering that large amounts of money had been stolen from him via the Kwikcash platform.
He posted a series of pictures that depicted the debit alerts of different sums of money between 3.20pm and 4.55pm yesterday, 12th April 2019. He cried out on Instagram by writing:
“This thing called life’s just a hot pot of beans!!! And so today as at 3.25pm, I started receiving a lot of debit alerts on my phone. At first, it seemed like a joke. I had to rush to the bank, @myaccessbank at Nyanyan branch, Abuja. Debit alerts of over 38k, 56k, 56k, 56k, 56k, 56k, 20k, and 10k were withdrawn from my account I’m still in awe about how someone can just stay and decide to be so wicked enough to withdraw someone’s sweat, someone’s handwork. I mean, I know how hard I have worked, going for different shows here and there! Doing the little legit jobs I can do and then this! I’m just gonna kill myself.”
He explained that it was after his visit to the bank that he was informed that his details were being used via the Kwikcash platform to withdraw the cash. He writes:
“According to the bank, they claim my ATM details was used by someone to pay for a loan under the “Kwikcash” platform! I’m like how??? How??? Heaven knows I’m very careful with anything concerning my account. How can I be so careless to divulge my information to anyone and apparently these transactions cannot be tracked! As it is, I’ve got nothing left in my account as every damn thing I had in my name was cleared.”
He went on to warn people to be careful with their bank details and to also beg for a solution to the issue at hand. He expressed this by saying:
“Damn! Fraudsters are everywhere! Please, ya’ll be careful with your ATM cards! Don’t even collect an ATM card. I’m wondering how these transactions cannot be tracked! I’m begging ya’ll to help me try and see if my money can be refunded. I’m gradually losing my mind. @myaccessbank and whatever this @kwikcashonline platform is all about! Please investigate and help me! The money might not be so much, but it means a lot to me right now!
It is unfortunate that a man who has worked for his money has to go through this situation but hopefully, this can be sorted out for him.
The artist is known to have competed on the Nigerian version of “The Voice” in 2017. The coaches for the show at the time was Waje, Timi Dakolo, Patoranking, and Yemi Alade. He emerged as one of the eight contestants on Yemi Alade’s team. Though he did not win the competition, he continued his music career after he left.
