Lagos is a mega city with a major problem of traffic congestion challenge. Yes, a crazy one.

It is divided into Mainland and Island while the state capital is located at Ikeja which is part of the Mainland.

Other popular places in Mainland are Yaba, Festac, Ikorodu, Isolo , Mushin and many others.

On the Island, there are Victoria Island (V.I.), Ikoyi, Lekki, Ajah, Lagos Island and others.

If you are visiting Lagos for the first time, I trust you will have mixed feelings after being there for a while.

But my aim is to reveal to you the cheapest hotels in Lagos so that you can have a memorable stay in the city.

Lagos Island which is home to many beaches in Lagos is connected to the Mainland via 3 bridges – Eko Bridge, Carter Bridge and Third Mainland Bridge. This is the location of major banks’ head offices, worldclass shopping malls, clubs, supermarkets, foreign missions and other multinational companies.

Cheapest Hotels in Lagos
Lagos is not like every other Nigerian state because of its traffic congestion problem, so anyone who is coming to this town will have to understand this.

Because of traffic congestion in the day, people tend to leave their homes as early as 5.00am to get to the office. On getting to the office at 5.30am – 5.45am, they will take a short nap before starting work at 8.00am.

I know this will sound rather funny to many readers while it will be strange to others, but this is done in a bid to avoid the crazy traffic of rush hour periods of 6.00am to 9.00am.

In this review of the cheapest hotels in Lagos, you have to understand that hotel accommodations are really very expensive in Lagos especially on the island areas.

Cost of living in Lagos is often compared with that of London and New York. Therefore, unlike when I discussed some really cheap hotels in Port Harcourt and Abuja, the cost of hotels in Lagos are a little higher especially in highclass areas of the state. Now let’s review them one after another.

Conclusion
Lagos State has by far the highest number of hotels in Nigeria. The unprecedented explosion of hotels in the state is occasioned by regular influx of foreign nationals into the city for business opportunities, tourism, medicals and vacation hence, Lagos’ Murtala Mohammed International Airport boasts as the busiest airport in West Africa and the 3rd busiest on the continent.

Also, the migration of many Nigerians from their localities to Lagos in search of greener pastures has contributed in no equal measures to the hospitality business in Lagos.

The list of cheapest hotels in Lagos is countless, but this is a review of “neat hotels” that will meet the expectations of both my foreign and local readers.

The major challenge facing people living in Lagos is traffic though the authorities have made serious efforts to reduce traffic congestions in the city.

Consequently, if you are visiting Lagos for a seminar, workshop, event, appointment, or meeting, make sure you check into a hotel close to the venue, else you may spend up to 5 hours in traffic in a distance of 5km.
